Moong Dal and Carrot Soup Recipe

Mong dal and carrot soup is indeed one of the best soups if you want to lose weight. It is a great change for your palate and the best part is that low fat milk in soup does not add any cholesterol to your diet. Now lets get started with the list of ingredients required for making this soup.

Ingredients:
  • 2 cups of washed and drained green moong dal
  • 3/4 cup low fat milk
  • 1/4 cup chopped tomatoes
  • 1 cup chopped carrots
  • 1 tbsp black pepper
  • 2 tbsp chopped garlic
  • 4 to 5 black peppercorns
  • 1/2 cup sliced onions
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • Salt to taste
Directions:
  • 1. Heat oil in non-stick pan and add garlic, peppercorns and onions and cook at low flame for 2 to 3 minutes.
  • 2. Now add carrots and tomatoes and continue cooking on low flame for another 3 to 4 minutes.
  • 3. Add green moong dal and 5 cups of water and cook for 10 minuter .
  • 4. Keep it aside for cooling.
  • 5. Once it is cool, blend it in a mixer to make a smooth puree.
  • 6. Transfer this puree in the pan again and add one cup of water, milk, salt and pepper and bring it to boil.
  • 7. Serve the hot soup immediately.
